Listen to Nine Inch Nails on iHeartRadio

The Nine Inch Nails reunion tour has hit a speed bump before getting off the ground.  New bassist Eric Avery announced plans to leave the band Wednesday in a post on his Facebook page.  He explained that it was a "tough call" and admits that he's still not sure exiting is the right decision.  But Avery says he "just got overwhelmed" as the Nine Inch Nails tour dates continued to pile up, and adds that he'd rather focus on his musical life in Los Angeles rather than spend another year and a half on the road.

Avery says Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor understands why he made this decision, and appreciates that he "pulled the plug" now rather than deep into the coming tour.  Nine Inch Nails are currently scheduled to hit the road July 26th at the Fuji Rock Festival in Japan.

Avery was part of the rebuilt Nine Inch Nails lineup that Reznor announced back in February.  Last year, the bassist - who was a founding member of Jane's Addiction - toured extensively with Garbage on their comeback "Not Your Kind of People" tour.
