Aerosmith rocker Joe Perry collapsed backstage and was rushed to a hospital after a performance with Billy Joel at Madison Square Garden on Saturday. The 68-year-old guitarist had just finished playing “Walk This Way” with Joel when he began gasping for air in his dressing room and was carted away on a stretcher. Paramedics shoved a tracheal tube down his throat to help him breathe and spent about 40 minutes treating him amid backstage panic. “Joe did not look good,” said one witness. Perry was in stable condition Sunday, his rep explained: “This morning, Perry remains in the hospital, where he is alert and responsive. Perry is expected to return to the road later this month.” He recently announced a solo tour and Aerosmith has a Las Vegas residency planned for next year.
