Okay, let's start off by saying your pool is not your bathtub. According to a study by the Water Quality and Health Counci, 51% of people use pools to clean up after exercise and yard work. YOU CAN'T GET CLEAN IN A POOL. IT'S NOT A BATHTUB!!
Here's what you need to think about. The more dirt and personal care products you get in the pool water with, means the less the chlorine works. That's the reason there are signs that ask you to rinse off before entering the water. So if you treat the pool like a bathtub and someone pees in it....you're basically swimming in just pee.
There is also a statistic that is out that says 40% of us admit that we have went pee in a pool, and guess what? Urine breaks down chlorine too. So think about that next time you go and do your first cannonball of the season. Even grosser, 24% of Americans would hop in a pool within an hour of having a bout of diarrhea.
So bottom line is, think about your opp etiquette this season before just hopping in the water.
