With movie theaters not a viable option for most of the world, Disney recently announced that they would be putting Star Wars movie plans on hold and focusing on streaming series for Disney+. According to Deadline, that focus is taking the form of a third season for The Mandalorian and a spinoff show about iconic bounty hunter Boba Fett.
Spoilers for last week's The Mandalorian season 2 premiere episode, but the show made it official that Boba Fett (seemingly killed off in 1983's Return of the Jedi) is back. You can see the clip below featuring the reveal of actor Temuera Morrison as Boba Fett, watching Pedro Pascal's titular Mandalorian ride off with his armor. The character has been rumored as the star of either a movie or streaming series for years, but this latest production news suggests that a Boba Fett miniseries is about to start production. The team would wrap the Boba Fett project, break for the holidays, and then get to work on the next season of The Mandalorian.
Other Star Wars shows officially confirmed to be in the works include an Obi-Wan Kenobi show starring Ewan MacGregor and a Rogue One prequel about Diego Luna's Cassian Andor character.
